7-string bass viol

after Michel Colichon, Paris 1689

I am currently making another medium sized 7-string viol. This one is for Katja Dolainski and is based on the instrument in the Collection Grumbt of the Museum Bochum. Again the body is made from figured american cherry with a bent front, this time with a lions head.

string length about 70.8 cm
