Viola d'amore
after Joan. Udalricus Eberll, Pragae 1740
The original of this instrument is in the Museum of the Royal College of Music in London. It has 7 playing + 7 sympathetic strings.
On my version I have shortened the pegbox and have strung it with metal strings but made it without the sympathetic strings. The result is a louder, more resonant instrument that also speaks more readily.
Body length 38.6 cm, string length ca. 37.5 cm.
